Sokoto, Jan. 6, 2017 (NAN) The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Committee says it has disbursed N 17.2 million to various hospitals and pharmaceutical shops in the state as intervention funds.
Malam Lawal Maidoki, inaugurated the payment of the intervention funds in Sokoto on Friday.
He said that the funds were part of the state government’s monthly health assistance to the needy for November and December, 2016.
The chairman further said that the gesture was aimed at further alleviating the suffering of the people,
The chairman called ON the hospitals and pharmaceutical shops concerned to continue to live above board through efficient delivery of services to the beneficiaries of the funds.
He said, “We are also looking forward on how we can collaborate more and synergise between the patients’ welfare committees and the pharmaceutical shops.”
The chairman further said that the committee was focusing more on the issues of accountability and transparency in 2017.
” The committee intends to properly look at the current contributory health insurance scheme introduced in the state, in order to be a partner in the programme. (NAN)
