3 men bolt with employer’s N366,000

Lagos, Dec. 29, 2016(NAN) Three employees — Samuel Joseph, Kazeem Qudus and Godwin Peter — who allegedly stole their employer’s N366,000, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The trio of Joseph, 19; Qudus, 25; and Peter, 19, who all reside with the complainant in Agege area of Lagos,is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Micheal Unah, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in September at Shop 15/16 at Powa market, Ogba, Lagos.

He said the accused, who were working with the complainant, Mrs Tessy Iwuru, in her frozen foods shop, conspired and stole her money.

Unah said the complainant went to her shop and discovered that the money she kept in her drawer was missing.

“When she asked the workers about the missing money they denied stealing it, but later confessed to the police that they stole and shared the money.”

The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section 285 prescribes a three-year jail term for offenders, while Section 409 also provides two years.

The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Gbajumo, granted the accused bail in the sum N60, 000  each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to Feb. 6, 2017 for mention. (NAN)
