Lagos, Dec. 29, 2016 (NAN) Two persons including a woman on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining N284, 000 from a female passenger under false pretex.
The accused are, Micheal Eluu, 35 an unemployed man, who resides at 24, Koforo St., Ikorodu and Mariam Balogun, 29, who resides at Salako St., Isolo, suburb of Lagos.
They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.
The prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the offences were committed on Nov. 17 at Alabarago area Ojo, suburb of Lagos.
He said the accused fraudulently obtained N284, 000 from one Miss Loveth Felix on the pretex that they would `cleanse the money’ for her.
“The complainant boarded a car to Seme border in the company of the accused and another accomplice.
“They drove the complainant to an uncompleted building, striped her naked and collected her money under the pretex of cleansing the money.
“The police were informed that a car drove to the uncompleted and they swung into action,” he said.
Aigbokhan said the accused were caught while their other accomplice escaped.
He said the offences contravened sections 312 (1) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akokhia granted the accused N100, 000 bail each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 24 for mention. (NAN)
