Lagos, Dec. 14, 2016 (NAN) A businessman, Joseph Okwor, on Wednesday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly bolting with N9,245,000 belonging to a restaurant.

Okwor, 27, who resides at Ikeja, is charged with stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offence was committed sometime in July 2015 at Admiralty Way, Lekki, in Lagos.

Inuoha said that the accused was to supply some goods to The Place Restaurant at Lekki and was given N9, 245,000.00 to execute the business.

He said that Okwor absconded with the money without supplying the goods, and all efforts to get him failed.

“The accused was later sighted by one of the staff members of the organisation and was arrested,” Inuoha said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi granted the accused N1million bail with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to March 6, 2017 for mention. (NAN)
