Motorcyclist in court for allegedly stabbing friend

Ikeja, Aug. 24, 2018(NAN) A motorcyclist, Yinusa Mohammed, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing his friend.

Mohammed, 23, who resides at No. 35, Olubode St., Orelope in Idimu, near Lagos, is facing a charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rapheal Donny, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 12 at his residence.

Donny said the accused stabbed one Hamsa Umar in his back after an argument between the two over money.

“The argument resulted to a fight and the accused took a kitchen knife and stabbed his friend in the back.

“The complainant was in pool of blood and had fainted when some neighbours took him to the hospital,” the prosecutor said.

Donny added that the accused was dragged to the police station by neighbours.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Oct. 10. (NAN)
