Association seeks demarcation of cattle routes, farmlands in Babura LG

Dutse, Nov. 8, 2016 (NAN) The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Babura Local Government has called on the authorities of the council to demarcate all cattle routes and farmlands in the area.

The MACBAN’s Chairman,  Malam Abubakar Hamidu, made the call on Monday in a statement by the local government Information Officer, Alhaji Sunusi Sulaiman, in Dutse on Tuesday.

Hamidu said proper demarcation of cattle routes, farmlands and watering points, would ensure peace between farmers and herdsmen in the area.

He said it would also stop farmers from encroaching into designated grazing reserves and cattle routes close to their farms.

The chairman added that it would further stop herdsmen from encouraging into farmlands in council.

He also warned herdsmen to restrict their grazing activities on the designated grazing reserves across the state.

Hamidu also warned alien nomads to desist from grazing their livestock at night as the practice could raise suspicion among members of the community concerned.

According to him, the warning has become necessary in view of the current security challenges the country is facing.

He added that it had become necessary to warn the nomads against grazing at night because they had been accused of committing all sorts of crime during the night.

Hamidu also advised traditional leaders in the area to educate people in their respective domains on the importance of peace in the area. (NAN)
