Ikeja, April 5, 2018 (NAN) A 50 -year-old, Busuyi Ayodele, who allegedly stabbed a motorcyclist several times to snatch his motorcycle, on Thursday appeared before an
Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused was arraigned before the Magistrate,Mrs F.F. George, on a charge of assault.
Ayodele, who resides at Ojokoro area of Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
George said the sureties should be gainfully employed with evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
According to the prosecutor, Police Sgt. Godwin Awase, the accused committed the offences on March 13 at Abule-Egba, a Lagos suburb.
He said the accused assaulted Mr David Laves and stabbed him with a knife all over his body.
“The accused stabbed the complainant on his body. He ordered the complainant to surrender his motorcycle to him for riding at 11. 00 p.m.
“The complainant refused and the accused brought out a knife and started stabbing him.
“The case was reported to the police and the accused was immediately arrested,” the prosecutor told the court.
The offence contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 stipulates three years imprisonment for assault occasioning harm.
The case was adjourned until April 10 for mention. (NAN)
