Dutse, Feb. 16, 2018 (NAN) Alhaji Kabir Sugungu, the Chairman of the Jigawa Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), has advised staff of the organisation to shun corruption.
Sugundu made the call at a workshop organised for the staff in collaboration with the Ni’ima Academy in Dutse on Friday.
He was represented by the Permanent Commissioner 1 of the Commission, Alhaji Salisu Kanya, at the workshop with the theme “financial procedures and record keeping”.
According to him, hardship faced by the people was due to corrupt practices by leaders who looted the public treasury.
He explained that the theme of the workshop was aimed at assisting the staff in discharging their duty on financial matters.
The chairman said the workshop was to assist in the reduction of corruption in the commission.
“I urge participants to strictly follow due process and stick to financial rules and regulations in handling financial matters in local government areas.”
He said that the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari took the mantle of leadership during some critical financial difficulties and appealed to workers to be patient and ensure rectification of the anomalies.
Sugungu commended Gov. Muhammad Badaru for the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pension.
He urged the workers to put in their best for efficient and effective service delivery to the people.
The chairman assured them that the commission would sponsor training and retraining, to meet up with global trends.(NAN)
