Court slams N2m bail on man over fake land documents to get judgment

Lagos, Aug. 8, 2017 (NAN) For allegedly presenting fake land documents before the court to get judgment, a 59-year-old man, Tajudeen Nosiru, on Tuesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused was, however, released on a N2 million bail.
He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Segun Elias on a two-count charge of forgery and giving false evidence.
Nosiru had pleaded innocence of the offences.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 9, 2009 in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
She said the accused forged a survey plan with no. IMS/LS/627/10 of a plot of land situated at Agura in Ikorodu which he also used in getting judgment over 303, 101 hectares of land in Igbokua village in Ikorodu.
She said the accused also presented the document to the court as genuine, thereby deceiving the court to get a favorable judgment at the Ikorodu High Court.
The offences contravened Sections 86(1) and 365 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.(revised)
In his ruling, The chief magistrate granted the accused a bail of N2 million with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a senior civil servant with an evidence of tax payment.
Further hearing in the case has been fixed for Sept. 11. (NAN)
