3 men in court over alleged stealing of employer’s paint chemical worth N583, 335

Lagos, July 13, 2017(NAN) Three men were on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing their employer’s paint chemical worth N583, 335.

The defendants – Tolulope Ayodele,31, a store keeper; Edet Imadu,50, and Emmanuel Abuhia, 33, both security men, are being tried for alleged conspiracy, damages and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the offences were committed on May 28, at Meyer Paint Company, Alausa, Ikeja.

Ajebe said that the defendants stole the chemical, “titanium dioxide”, used for producing paint.

“The accused damaged the CCTV cameras in an attempt to steal, but were sighted by the security guards, “he said.

He said that the accused persons were apprehended by other security guards and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 348 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

All the defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Komolafe adjourned the case until Aug. 2 for mention. (NAN)
