Abuja, June 19, 2017 (NAN) The Chairman of Niger Flickers Hockey Club, Sani Kutigi, says the team will prepare adequately for the 2017 Hockey Super League to defend its 2016 title.
“For this year’s Super League, we are going to come better prepared. We want to come this year to win the trophy again,’’ Kutigi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
“I can assure you that we will not leave anything un-attended to ensure that we win the trophy again. The team really needs to prepare better to be able to retain the cup.
“We need to prepare well because the teams we have been beating are not folding their hands, they are also preparing, so we are coming better prepared than before.
“We need to prepare better to maintain the standard that we have set,’’ he said.
Kutigi said that knowing full well that other teams were preparing, they must maintain their status as one of the best teams in Nigeria.
“Our team is the best and is better prepared because we keep them in camp for maximum of three months and minimum of a month before the tournament.
“With this, we are able to work on their stamina, development and their techniques, that is why we have been able to maintain our status as the champions in the country,’’ he said. (NAN)
