Minna, April 27, 2017 (NAN) The Niger Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed 100 Anti-cattle rustling personnel to flush out cattle rustlers terrorising some communities in the state.

The state Commandant of the corps, Mr Philip Ayuba, while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday, said the officers would operate at Lapai, Shiroro, Rijau, Paikoro and Mayu local government areas.

Ayuba said that the command had taken concrete security measures to ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the illegal act.

“We have identified their operational routes in the affected local government areas and we are battle ready to confront them,” he said.

He explained that already, effective operational order had since been issued to the officers on how to end cattle rustling in the state.

The NSCDC boss, however, solicited the support of residents on information that could help the field officers carry out their assignments diligently.

He also appealed to traditional rulers to sensitise rural dwellers to volunteer information about criminal movements in their areas. (NAN)
