Abuja, April 12, 2017 (NAN) The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Hajiya Rabi Jimeta, on Wednesday, bowed out of service at 60 and after a meritorious service to the nation.
At an event in her honour in Abuja, the Minister of Water Resources, Mr Suleiman Adamu, described Jimeta as a trusted individual, a team player and hardworking civil servant who brought professionalism into the service.
He further said with her partnership, the ministry was able to set a policy direction of repositioning the water sector to meet with the Change Agenda mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“We started on a good premise of trust and confidence; I have never lost that trust and confidence in you.
‘‘Your professionalism, also, was never in doubt; we will greatly miss your service,” he said.
The Director of Water Supply of the ministry, Mr Benson Ajisegiri, in his speech also commended Jimeta for bringing trust and confidence to the ministry.
“Her loyalty to the Minister has demonstrated her exemplary leadership quality,’’ he said.
Ajisegiri said that the ministry looked forward to tapping from her reservoir of knowledge in the water sector, even has she retired from the service.
Responding, Jimeta said that she was fulfilled, having served her father land without any blemish.
“Sincerely, I thank you all for coming to this ceremony of my exit from the service. I am very grateful to you all and almighty God.
‘‘It is a defining moment for me.
“All through my career as the Permanent Secretary, I have never had any issue with my principals. So, I count myself as a fulfilled person,” she said.
She also said that her career as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources had added more value to her life.
“As a technical ministry, I have to be technical too to meet up and key into the ministry’s programmes,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Jimeta, born on April 12, 1957 in Gombe State, was first appointed as Permanent Secretary on January, 2010 and served six ministers. (NAN)
