Easter : FRSC unit deploys 400 personnel for patrol, says Commander

Suleja (Niger) April 12,2017( NAN) The Federal Road Safety Commission ( FRSC) Suleja unit, has deployed 400 personnel with 10 patrol vehicles to ensure the safety of road users during and after the Easter festivities.
The Unit Commander, Mr Olayinka Akande, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Suleja on Wednesday that 5 ambulances and heavy duty tow trucks had also been stationed on Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
According to him, the commission is collaborating with the National Union and Road Transport Workers ( NURTW), Suleja, to sensitise commercial drivers to the consequences of excessive speeding and overloading during the Easter period.
He identified human factors as the major causes of road accidents, urging motorists to imbibe safe-driving culture.
Akande said vehicle maintenance was crucial to averting road acccidents, adding that proper lighting system, functional screen wipers and other motor accessories must be put in place before the drivers’ journeys to various destinations.
He warned against underage-driving , saying it was illegal and dangerous for parents to allow children to drive vehicles of any sort.( NAN)
