Lagos, Feb. 27, 2017  (NAN) Two men —  Folarin Micheal and Adetunji Taiwo — who allegedly stole a tricycle valued at N815, 000,  were on Monday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court  on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The duo of Michael, 24, an unemployed, and Taiwo, 20, a cleaner, however, denied the charge.

But the prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde insisted that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 3, 2016 at about 5.00 a. m. at Olushola Street,  Agbelekale in Ikeja area.

According to him, the accused conspired and stole the tricycle with registration no. MUS 837 QD belonging to the complainant, Ishola Monsur.

“Monsur parked the tricycle after the day’s job but when he went back the following day to pick it he could not see it any longer.

“The accused reported the case to the police, and some days later the accused were arrested with the stolen tricycle,’’ he said.

The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 stipulates a three- year jail term for stealing, while Section 409 provides two years for conspiracy.

The Magistrate, Mrs Omolade Awope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Komolafe said the sureties must be gainfully employed and adjourned the case to June 9 for trial. (NAN)
