Children
By David Adeoye
Ibadan, Feb. 24, 2017 (NAN) Mrs Rebecca Adeyeni, 35, on Friday dragged her husband of 15 years to a Grade `C’ Customary Court, Agodi-Ibadan, Oyo State, requesting for the custody of the two children of the marriage.
Rebecca, who claimed to be a trader, told the court that the two kids were left behind when she packed out of her matrimonial home in 2012, due to brutality and ill treatment by the defendant.
According to her, the defendant used to beat me always, did not bother about my well-being and I decided to pack out to save my life.
She prayed the court to order the defendant to release the two kids; aged 14 and 11, to her so that she would be able to instil moral training in the children, who were females.
“My fear is that the defendant, who is a commercial driver, neither have time nor possess good character that could make the kids grow up with good morals under him.
“Moreover, the report I received about the welfare of the children was pathetic and I am ready to take care of my children properly since I do not have other children.
“I have decided not to re-marry but to struggle and make money to maintain myself and the two kids. So, the court should intervene and allow me to have my children. ‘’she pleaded.
Adeyemi, however, was not in court to defend the case.
The President of the Court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, said, “The court will still give the defendant another opportunity to state his own side of the matter in spite of his absence during two previous sittings“.
Balogun adjourned the case to March 3 for continuation of hearing (NAN)
