A statement signed by Abdullahi Bego, Director of Press Affairs to the governor, disclosed that the funds were meant for payment of gratuities of civil servants, who retired or died between April 2014 and October 2015.
Bego said no fewer than 154 retirees from the state civil service between January, 2014 and March, 2014, had been paid N300 million as entitlements.
He said, “a committee is now working to verify all other civil servants, who have retired or died from November 2015 to date.
“Further payments to beneficiaries will follow as the committee conducts its assignment and submits its report.”
Yobe Government, according to Bego, had given the assurance that it would remain steadfast in meeting all its obligations to workers in the employment of the state. (NAN)
