Enugu, Feb. 20, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it will embark on a medical outreach and sport engagement to deepen civil-military relations in Enugu state.

Air Commodore Paul Masiyer, the Commander, 155 Base Services Group of NAF in the state, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday.

Masiyer said the outreach was part of efforts by the airforce to play its role in the  sustenance of democratic rule.

“We are by organising a medical outreach on Wednesday.

“I was with his royal majesty, the Igwe of Nike Kingdom (Igwe Julius Nnaji) and I briefed him about the medical outreach we are about to do on Wednesday.

“He (His majesty) also agreed to sensitise his subjects (on the outreach).

“We will conduct a free medical outreach and a medical awareness campaign.

“Our neigbhours are encouraged to come; there would be free medical check-up and then, for the pregnant women, we intend to distribute insecticide treated nets free.

“Apart from the medical outreach, we are continuing with our civil-military relationship.

“And this is democratic dispensation and we are performing our roles in democracy; so we need to relate well with the civil populace.’’

The commander said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, had mandated the airforce to foster cordiality between it and the civilian population in the country.

“The Nigerian Air Force wants to continue making positive impact in the lives of Nigerians anywhere and anytime,’’ he added. (NAN)
