Abuja, Feb.16, 2017 (NAN) Power generating stations comprising hydro and gas-fired plants in Nigeria released an average of 3,799MW/hour of power on Feb. 15, according to the website of the Nigerian Electricity Supply.

The  daily report, obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, however, indicated that the power sector lost an estimated N862 million on Feb.15 due to constraints of gas and water supply to the power stations.

According to the report, the gas constraint was 1,161MW,  the reported line constraint was 350MW, while the reported high frequency constraint was 134MW.

It further reported that the water management constraint was 150MW.

On power sector reform activities for the day, it indicated that Olorunsogo I, Alaoji National Integrated Power Plant (NIPP), Ihovbor NIPP, Okpai and Ibom had restored additional turbines to functionality.

According to the report, gas constraints also declined, resulting in improved generation.

It stated that the improved generation, however, resulted in an increase in high frequency constraints and line constraints.

It further reported that Afam VI was still reporting loss in functionality on GT11 & ST10 due to  a circuit breaker problem at Alaoji T/S on the day.

It also  indicated that the three hydro stations: Jebba, Kainji and Shiroro, separately sent out 327; 313 and 271 MWh of electricity.

According to the report, Afam VI, a gas-fired power plant, sent out 290 MWh, the highest among the others

The report, however, showed that there was a decrease by 26MWh of the power sent out by the stations as against the 3,825MWh sent out on Feb 14.(NAN)
