Abuja, Feb. 15 2017 (NAN) Twenty-eight hydro and gas-fired electricity generating stations in Nigeria have released an average of 3,825MW/hour of power on Feb. 14, according to the website of the Nigerian Electricity Supply.
The report, obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, however, indicated that the power sector lost an estimated N802 million on Feb. 14 due to constraints of gas and water supply to the generating companies.
According to the report, the gas constraint was 1,462MW; the reported grid constraint was 350MW, while the water management constraint stood at 150MW.
On power sector reform activities, it indicated that improvements in domestic gas supply had resulted in lower gas constraints.
It also reported that the circuit breaker problem in Alaoji T/S was constraining 350MW of power due to line constraints.
It further reported that the three hydro stations: Jebba, Kainji, and Shiroro separately sent out 361,315 and 285 MWh of electricity.
According to the report, Afam VI, a gas-fired power plant, sent out 292 MWh, the highest among the 25 gas-fired stations.
The report, however, showed that there was an increase of 193MW/h in the entire power released by the stations as against the 3,632MWh sent out on Feb 13.(NAN)
