Kano,

Feb. 15, 2017 (NAN) Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has urged tricycle operators to obtain licence to enable them operate in the state.

The Managing Director of the agency, Alhaji Mohammed Zarewa gave the order on Wednesday, while addressing Special Marshals of KAROTA at its  Headquaters in Kano.

Zarewa explained that the measure was aimed at curbing the excesses of  tricycle operators plying major routes  in the metropolis.

The managing director commended the special marshals for their voluntary work toward ensuring traffic control, while noting with concern that some of them have just obtained the uniforms for self-aggrandisement.

He warned that such erring marshals would be prevented from participating in traffic control henceforth.

Responding, Chairman of the Special Marshals, Mr Ammai Maizare pledged to collaborate with the agency in easing traffic congestion in Kano as well as reduce traffic violations to the barest minimum.

Maizare stressed the need for the special marshals and regular KAROTA operatives to close ranks in their collective desire to serve the state better. (NAN)
