Bauchi, Feb 10,2017 (NAN) The Bauchi State Agency for Orphans and Vulnerable Children said it had put up some structures at the Bauchi Special Education Centre to provide conducive learning atmosphere for the less privileged students.

Chairman of the agency Alhaji Ibrahim Hali, told News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Bauchi that constructed the construction of additional hostels and toilets, in addition to the renovation of some other existing structures.

According to him, the measure is to ensure that the blind and deaf school-aged children also learn under the same condition as their peers in other conventional schools.

He said that 20 toilets were constructed while 18 were renovated for both female and male students in the school for proper sanitation and hygiene.

“ Two blocks of hostels were constructed to accommodate over 140 students in the Special Centre, which has students from other states too.

“Since the school was establish more than 10 years ago, there was no renovation, as such the agency decided to take up the responsibility of catering for the vulnerable children in the society and the students are one category of vulnerable people in the society.

Similar, the Bauchi state-owned Motherless Babies Home was also upgraded from Daycare  and Nursery school, to Nursery and Primary Model School, with the aim of providing basic education for all children of school age in the state.

Hali said that the agency had constructed eight classrooms for the Nursery and Primary section.

“The Motherless babies will not be left out in the provision of basic education to all school-aged children.

`Therefore ,the agency constructed addition eight classes for the Nursery and Primary, since the orphans and vulnerable age cut across all ages.

“The agency is set to provide the same educational services to these  groups of young vulnerable children,”he said. (NAN)
