3 workers docked over alleged damage, assault on colleagues

Lagos, Jan. 16, 2017 (NAN) Three male workers of Erisco Food Company Limited  on Monday appeared  before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly damaging property of the company and assaulting colleagues with broken bottles at a party.
The accused: Abraham Solomon, 25, Ajenifuja Segun, 25 and Akinloye Francis, 18, whose Addresses were not disclosed in court, are facing a three-count charge bordering on assault and damage.

 

Police prosecutor Victor Eruada told the court that the accused committed the offences at the Oregun-Ikeja office of the company on Dec. 19, 2016.

 

According to the prosecutor, the accused persons unlawfully assaulted their co-worker, one Frank Nwakanma, with a broken bottle while the company was having its end of the year party.
“The trio also engaged in a fight with other staff members that intervened and in the process hit one Adewale Babatunde on the head with a bottle, inflicting injuries on his head,” he said.
Eruada said that the trio damaged the window of a security room in the company worth N20,000.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 171, 166 and 348 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Magistrate G. O. Anifowoshe, however, granted a bail of N20,000 each with two sureties in like sum  to the accused .

Anifowoshe added that they must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government (LASG), and thereafter, adjourned the case to Jan. 30 for mention. (NAN)
