Lagos, Sept. 27, 2017 ( NAN) Three sales representatives were on Wednesday charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of 37 cartons of hair attachment belonging to their employer and valued at N900,000
The accused – Onyekachi Chimezie, 30; Sikiru Yusuf, 30; and Chidera Ilodi, 17 – are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Police Prosecutor, Ben Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept.14 at about 3:30 p.m. at No. 6, Kaseli St., Balogun Market, Lagos Island.
He said that they conspired among themselves and stole 37 cartons of Xciting hair attachment belonging to Mrs Ukamaka Idoko.
“The accused engaged a customer to remove the 37 cartons out of the store but they were caught by the complainant who immediately took inventory of what was left.
“She reported the matter to the police and the accused were arrested,” he said.
Ekundayo said the offences contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency f Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 (7) stipulates a seven-year jail term for stealing from one’s employer, while Section 411 prescribes a two-year imprisonment for conspiracy.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Ade Adefulire, granted them bail in the sum of N250, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Adefulire said the surety must be gainfully employed with a minimum of N100, 000 in his/her bank account.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for mention. (NAN)
