3 men docked over alleged joint act, receiving stolen property

Abuja, Jan. 11, 2018 (NAN) The police on Thursday arraigned three men in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja over joint act, theft by servant and receiving stolen property.

The defendants, Moses Abel, 24 and David Jacob, 25, both security guards​ at Mab Global Estate, Karmo in Abuja, while Manshiru Mohammed, 36, resident of  Ereke Junction, also in Karmo, were docked on three-count charge.

The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that the matter was reported by Chioma Ogbuokeri of same address with the security guards at Life Camp Police Station.

He said that Abel and Jacob stole the complainant’s diesel which value had yet to be estimated in December 2017, and sold it to Mohammed.

He added that the offences contravened the provision of sections 79, 289, and 317 of the Penal Code.

However, the defendants denied committing the offences, while the judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 and a surety each in like sum.

He said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must present utility bill carrying their names as he adjourned the case until Feb. 7 for hearing. (NAN)
