2 in court over alleged theft of cell phone

Abuja, March 15, 2017 (NAN) Two men, Timothy Aduya and Buhari Shaibu, were on Wednesday arraigned at a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing an Itel Phone valued at N35,000.
Aduya and Shaibu of no fixed address are facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Upper Area Judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each after they had denied the charge.
The judge also ordered the defendants to produce a reliable surety each who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned hearing to May 8.
The Prosecutor, Mr Donatus Abah, had told the court that Judith Ewaode of Arozo village reported the matter at Apo Police Station on March 10.
Abah said the complainant alleged that the defendants “conspired and stole her Itel Phone at Apo roundabout.’’
He said that the “phone contained two memory cards and two sim cards and is valued at N35,000.’’
He also said that the phone was inside a wallet which also contained N7,500.
The prosecutor said the offences were contrary to Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
