By Vivian Ibobo
Lagos, June 22, 2017 (NAN) Two employees of a logistics company, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing its trailer gear parts and N30,000 cash.
The accused persons are a driver, Kehinde Adeshina, 27, and a motor boy, Tijani Wasiu, 30, whose addresses were not provided.
The duo are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused persons committed the offences at the premises of I.A.A Logistics Company, their employer, at Iju Road, Agege, on May 8.
Eruada alleged that Adeshina and Wasiu loaded a container with goods from Apapa to Jos and were expected to be back in Lagos after the delivery.
“Instead, they loaded another set of goods from Jos to Kaduna for N30,000 without the company’s consent and failed to remit the money.
“They also sold the company’s trailer gear parts that were changed from the trailer for N90,000 without remitting the money,’’ he said.
The offences contravene Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes a three-year jail term for stealing, while Section 409 stipulates a two-year imprisonment for conspiracy.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Anifowoshe said the sureties must be gainfully employed, with an evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until June 28, for mention. (NAN)
