Iwar described traditional rulers as the strongest bridge between the police and community, saying, “that was one of the things that brought me here.
“We feel the best way to police our community is by partnership with the community. We have held a number of conferences in Abuja and Port Harcourt just about two months back.
“Police cannot be everywhere, but the community is everywhere, they have more eyes and more eyes than the police, the police is just a tiny part of the community.
“So if you engage with the community in a productive way, we will be able to control crime, manage crime or even eliminate crime,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the CP had visited Rigasa, Hayin Malam Bello, Hayin Danmani, Sabontasha, Television Garage, Barnawa, Mando, Afaka community, Kawo and Zaria.
Responding, the Emir appreciated the CP for the visit and pledged total support and cooperation of the emirate towards the success of the police in the state.
He assured that the emirate had 88 district heads, 1,700 village heads and another 1,000 ward heads and they all work with the police.
“These traditional institutions are all working together with the police as far as security is concerned to ensure that the police succeed in their legitimate duties.
“And our members of community must be commended as well because I always warn them, if there is anything, they shouldn’t take the law into their hands but they should report to the police.
“I am glad to say that they always heed to my advice and work with the police, this is quite commendable,” he said.
The CP also had an interactive session with police personnel in Zaria Area Command where issues concerning security, welfare among others were discussed.
He enjoined the police to consolidate on the trust people have on them (NAN)
