Lafia, Dec. 22, 2015 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Chief Vehicles Inspection Officer, Mr Victor Jerry, has advised motorists against over-speeding and reckless driving during and after the yuletide.

Jerry gave this advice while speaking  with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Lafia on Thursday.

He attributed the high rate of road crashes in the state to over-speeding and reckless driving .

Jerry, therefore, urged motorists to have regard for the lives of other road users.

The officer also identified overtaking at dangerous points, overloading, and receiving calls while driving, as some of the causes of road crashes in the country.

Jerry, who said life had no duplicate, urged road users, especially motorists, to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations in order to save lives.

“We will not relent in our efforts in educating, advising and sensitising motorists on the need to do the right thing while driving, as we are working to minimize road crashes.

“Motorists should avoid speeding and other distractions in order to save their lives and the lives of passengers.

“Let us kill the speed before the speed will kill us, so that even if the accident will occur, the injuries or the damages will be minimal,’’ he said.

He disclosed that any driver found wanting at any time would be penalised according to the law. (NAN)
