was a worthy investment for the future of the state.
The chairman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Wednesday that the gesture was a worthy investment for the future of the state.
He said the scholarship would “relieve substantial financial burden on parents at this critical moment of recession and other competing needs.”
Kukuri, who is also the state chairman of National Conscience Party (NCP), said although he belonged to an opposition party, he was in support of positive policies and programmes of the ruling party.
“Our essence of being in politics is to work towards improving the lives of our people and it does not matter who does it, as long as it is done,” he said.
The chairman said such programmes would promote education development to bridge the gap in the education sector, created by the seven years of insurgency in the state and other parts of the North-East.
He enjoined the students to take advantage of the gesture by being serious in the pursuit of their studies.
“The parents should equally enroll their wards and support them as a way of making the best use of the opportunities provided by the government,” Kukuri advised. (NAN)
