Abuja, March 28, 2017 (NAN) The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has fixed April 25 to hear a suit instituted by a former employee, Shaibu Idris, against Jardin Development and Associates Nigeria Ltd, challenging the termination of his appointment and non-payment of his benefits for eight years.

Idris, who worked as a heavy duty mechanic for the company, is asking the court to order the company to compensate him adequately for wrongful termination of his appointment in 2009.

The claimant also wants the court to award N5 million as damages for the injury he allegedly sustained while working for the company as well as the trauma he went through after he was sacked.

The claimant’s counsel, Mr Bright Enado, had cross examined the defendant’s witness (DW1), Mrs Kate Lekan- Michael, a staff of the Human Resource Department in the company, who said the company had written to the claimant, informing him that his entitlements were “ready.”

According to her, the claimant refused to collect his redundancy benefit, saying he will wait until all his entitlements were ready.

Justice Edith Agbakoba adjourned the case until April 25 for further hearing. (NAN)
