Funeral
Sana’a , Feb. 16, 2017 (dpa/NAN) A least 9 civilians were killed in airstrikes by Saudi-led jets at a funeral near the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, witnesses said on Thursday according to report.
The report that said that all the fatalities in the bombing that took place in Arhab, North of Sana’a, were children and women.
A local resident said that 12 others were injured in the strikes that hit a funeral hall for women.
It said that so far, there had been no comment from the Saudi-led alliance fighting Iran-backed rebels in Yemen.
In October 2016, 115 people were killed and more than 600 injured in Saudi-led bombardment of a funeral hall in rebel-controlled Sana’a.
At the time, the Saudi-led coalition blamed that bombing on “wrong information” from its Yemeni allies.
Yemen’s internationally recognised government has been locked in a feud with the Houthi rebels since late 2014.
The conflict has intensified since March 2015 when the Houthis first advanced on the southern city of Aden, prompting Saudi Arabia and Sunni allies to start air campaign against the Shiite group.
Saudis fear that rebels will give their regional rival, Iran, a foothold on the Arabian Peninsula.
