Ile-Ife (Osun), April 12, 2017 (NAN) A 35-year-old woman, Yetunde Oriade, who failed to produce an accused in court, was on Wednesday released on N50, 000 bail with one surety on the orders of an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.

Oriade had stood as surety for a man, Patrick Tunde, who is being tried for theft.

The Magistrate, Mrs Dorcas Ajiboye, who gave the ruling, said the surety must swear to an affidavit of means and should reside within the court’s jurisdiction as well as produce two recent passport-size  photographs.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 12 at about 8.00 a.m. at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Moore, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said the accused prevented Tunde, for whom she stood as surety on April 4 from re-appearing at the Police Station before proceeding to the court for his trial.

The offence contravened Section 126 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Osun, 2004.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of failing to produce an accused in court.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Sunday Olagbaju, urged the court to grant her bail on liberal terms, promising she will not jump bail.

The case was adjourned until May 24 for mention. (NAN)
