Enugu, Aug. 25, 2017 (NAN) A 39-year-old woman, Grace Agu, who allegedly stabbed her neighbour with knife during a fight, was on Friday granted reprieve by an Enugu South Magistrates’ Court.
Grace, who lives in Nkanu East Local Government Area, was released on a N500,000 bail.
She is standing trial on a charge of stabbing a man, Peter Mba, with knife and bottle on his back.
Agu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Jude Umezurike, who gave the ruling, said the accused should produce one surety in like sum, who must be a civil servant on Grade Level 14.
Earlier, Police Prosecutor Emmanuel Ajiogwu told the court that the complainant (Mba) reported the case at Nkanu East Police Station on July 29.
The offence contravened Section 290 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Enugu State 2004.
The lawyer to the accused, Mr Chigozie Azoma, urged the court to grant her bail.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 29 for hearing. (NAN)
