Abuja, July 5, 2017 (NAN) A witness, Insp. Micheal Okoro , has narrated before Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya of FCT High Court, Kubwa, how his team arrested suspected armed robbers through one of the cell phones they allegedly stole.
Okoro made the revelation, while being cross- examined by Mr Nneli Donatus, counsel to one of the defendants.
Okoro was earlier led in evidence by Mr Stanley Nwodo, the prosecuting counsel.

The defendants- Odinaka Shedrack and Valentine Musa, both residents of Kabusa, a suburb of the FCT, are facing a five-count charge bordering on armed robbery and theft.

According to Okoro, the police traced the suspects through an Itel phone that was snatched by the defendants from a passerby on the day of the robbery.
” After robbing their initial target, they ran into a passerby, one Nkemdirim Okoli and snatched her Itel phone from her.
” She was the one that provided us with the phone SIM pack, which had the details of the phone in it and we used it to trace the defendants.’’
He said that it was after they traced the defendants with the phone that his team began its investigation proper.
He said that the phone was still in the possession of the exhibit keeper at the police station.
When asked about the other stolen items, Okoro listed them as Peugeot 406 car, money and another phone, yet to be recovered.
All these, he noted, were allegedly stolen from the first victim, one Yakubu Gyang.
After the cross-examination, Nwodo, the prosecuting counsel, told the court that he was closing his case.
The case was adjourned until July 11 for further hearing. (NAN)
