Lagos Sept. 28, 2017 (NAN) The President, Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, says recent visits by the federation’s board to some states was in an efforts to reposition the game.
Orbih told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the tour gave the federation the opportunity to assess facilities and the level of development of the game in the states.
“We also used the opportunity to meet with stakeholders on how to promote the game at the grassroots.
“Also, the visit gave us the opportunity to talk about securing sponsorship for programmes and international competitions,’’ he said.
He urged stakeholders to promote the game at the grassroots.
NAN reports that the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Usman, had called on the federation to embark on grassroots development.
The Emir, who made the call during a courtesy visit to him by the board, said that it should intensify efforts to take the game to schools. (NAN)
