Roads
By Awayi Kuje
Lafia (Nasarawa State), Feb. 19 , 2017 (NAN) Malam Dauda Yahaya, the Village Head of Fadama-Buana, in Lafia East Development Area, of Nasarawa State, has appealed to the state government to construct roads to open up the area.
Yahaya, who made the appeal in on Sunday, while conferring traditional titles on five sons of the area, also called for clinics and portable water to improve the living standard of his people.
“We have remained perpetually backward; we do not have basic amenities. This encourages people to move to urban areas in search of non-existent comfort,” he said.
He urged the new chiefs to look inward toward addressing the concerns of the people so as to give them a sense of belonging.
Yahaya particularly urged them to use their positions to convince government to rehabilitate the road linking Fadama-Buana to Lafia, Nassarawa Eggon and Wamba towns.
“If the road is rehabilitated, economic activities will receive a massive boost; we shall be able to move our goods to the urban markets and get good prices on them,” he said.
He also appealed to them to initiate projects that would engage the youths, and urged them never to be tired of requests from people seeking jobs or assistance.
Yahaya also tasked his people to promote peace, unity and communal work in the area, so as to complement government efforts.
The village head urged the people to be law abiding and respect constituted authority, noting that the area would only progress if its people were orderly.
Dr. Amos Angbashim, the “Iya” Fadama-Bauna, who responded on behalf of other title holders, thanked the monarch for the honour, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them. (NAN)
