1.President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday declared a national emergency on the war against corruption, to enable the Federal Government effectively deal with the ongoing high profile corruption cases in the country.

President Buhari made the declaration while signing Executive Order No. 6 of 2018 on the preservation of assets connected with serious corruption and other relevant offences, at the Presidential villa, Abuja.

He said the declaration of emergency had become necessary owing to the need to re-kit and re-tool government’s arsenal to be able to effectively tackle corruption’s perilous counter-attack against the Nigerian state.

2.The Nigerian Air Force has redeployed 52 senior officers comprising 16 Air Vice Marshalls, 16 Air Commodores, Nine Group Captains and Four Squadron Leaders to various formations in the country.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Olatokunbo Adesanya said prominent among those affected by the deployment are 4 Branch Chiefs at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters, and one Air Officer Commanding.

3.Civil Society Groups for Good Governance in Nigeria have set an agenda for the power sector to track irregularities and proffer solutions to the issue of electricity in the country.

In a roundtable with stakeholders, the Group’s President, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic said stakeholders would focus on solving the problem of power loss, estimated billing, metering and tracking power users.

4.CODEFEST a Nigerian undergraduate placement for innovation and technology says it will train 100,000 Nigerians on software development, Information and Communication Technology, before 2019.

The organisation said the training would be for students, universities, and artisans in five states to aid professionalism in computer knowledge and reduce unemployment.

5.Former Central Bank Governor and Ex Finance Minister, Mallam Adamu Ciroma is dead.

Family sources said the elder statesman, died in a Turkish hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness at the age of 84.

Ciroma has since been buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
