  1. The National Economic Council has held a closed-door meeting to discuss and address issues of security in the country.

The meeting, presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, was attended by State Governors, Cabinet Members and Security Chiefs.

2. The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT) says it will commence mass production of its new adhesive to solve the problem of bonding of leather products in the country.

Mr Vincent Oriah, Acting Director, Southern Zone of the Institute, said plans had reached advanced stage to establish a factory for production of the adhesive, which was developed in 2017.

Oria said that the Institute had also applied to the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to scale up its production for use by local leather industries.

3. National Youth Service Corp 2017 Batch B and 2018 Batch A members, deployed to serve with the National Emergency Management Agency, Abuja, have donated relief materials to victims of Flash flood in Karon-Majigi district of the Federal Capital territory.

Mr Paul Pope, Team leader of the 2017 Batch B corps members, urged members of the community to ensure proper environmental sanitation to allow free flow of drainages.

District Head of the community, Alhaji Yunusa Bako, thanked the corps members for their support and pledged to put the materials to good use

4. President Rodrigo Duterte of Philippines could step down if the son of former dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, succeeds in overturning his 2016 vice presidential election defeat.

Duterte, who’s single term ends in June 2022, expressed frustration about his failure to tackle illicit drugs and corruption in government, but said reluctant to hand over power to Vice President Leni Robredo, whom he described as not up to the job.

5. Aretha Franklin, popularly called the Queen of Soul who was born on the 25thof March 1942, has died at the age of 76, after battling advanced pancreatic cancer.

The legendary Music icon and mother of four, was diagnosed with the disease in 2010.

She was nominated for 44 Grammy awards, won 18 of them and was the first woman-inductee to the Rock`n’Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

Aretha sold more than 75million records worldwide to earn the title of one of the best selling Musical artiste of all time.
