Vice-Chancellor lauds NASE’s partnership with Unilorin

Ilorin, July 9, 2018 (NAN) The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem, has commended the partnership between the University and Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), Ilorin, toward the postgraduate training of qualified military officers.

Abdulkareem said this at the graduation ceremony of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC) Officers Executive Management Course 10/18 in Ilorin.

He charged the NASE graduating officers to be good ambassadors of the institution.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented by the institution’s Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Lanre Ajibade, commended the Nigerian Army for raising the name of the University on high level.

Abdulkareem further highlighted other areas of partnership for professional development such as the Ilorin Business School, which could yield numerous benefits to both institutions.

Also speaking, the Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin, Prof. Noah Yusuf, lauded the graduating officers for demonstrating a high level of discipline.

Yusuf also commended them for their commitment and professionalism expected from officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

He described men of the Nigerian Army as disciplined and detribalised Nigerians, who are committed to the service of the motherland.

”As one of the resource persons from the academia, I can attest to the rigorous training experiences undergone by these military officers,” he said.

Earlier, the Commandant of NASE, Sobi Cantonment, Gen. Nuhu Umaru, charged the graduating officers on their newly acquired knowledge, and encouraged them to prove their mettle wherever they find themselves.

Umaru further warned them to show restraint in their use of social media platform-based on the new rules and policy of the Army.

He said they should not be carried away by the things happening around them.

He, thereafter, commended the level of synergy and cooperation which existing among security agencies in the state, adding that it should be demonstrated at every level to enable move the nation forward.

“NASE’s collaboration with the University has helped the CPSS director to do a good job in selecting teachers to deliver lectures on topical issues, which has impacted greatly on the students,’’ Umaru said. (NAN)
