Lagos, Dec. 23, 2016 (NAN) An unemployed man, Bolaji Adeola, 50, was on Friday arraigned in Lagos for allegedly stealing a machine valued at N500,000.
The accused, who resides at Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 6 along Awolowo Way, Ikeja.
Inuoha said the accused and others now at large went to one Mr Amos Matthew’s shop at night and stole the machine.
“The accused and his other accomplice broke into the shop of the complainant and stole his machine valued at N500, 000.
“They were intercepted on the way by the security guards; while the other escaped, Adeola was apprehended,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, granted the accused N200, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 20 for mention. (NAN)
