Unemployed man docked over alleged damage of neighbour’s property

Lagos, Feb. 8, 2017 (NAN) A 36-year-old unemployed man, Samuel Bakare, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged damage of his neighbour’s property worth   N195,000.

The accused, residing at 28 Londoner Ave. Obawole, Iju in Lagos, is facing a charge of unlawful damage.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Williams, told the court that the offence was committed on Dec. 17, 2016 at the accused residence.

Williams said that a fight ensued between the accused and his co-tenant, Mr Tajudeen Williams, over the cleaning of a toilet.

“In the midst of the hot argument, the accused went to the complainant’s room, damaged two laptops and water dispenser valued at N195, 500,’’ she alleged.

The offence contravened Section 337 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs L.Y. Balogun, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Balogun adjourned the case to March 16 for hearing. (NAN)
