Unemployed man docked for alleged stealing

Ikeja, June 4, 2018 (NAN) An unemployed man, Fabian Udu, was on Monday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly burgling and stealing electronics, valued at N500,000.

Udu, 21, who resides at No. 39, Shodipo St. in Agege, near Lagos, is being tried for burglary, conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told court that the offences were committed on May 27 at No. 16, Ikuomola Close in Alimosho, Lagos.

Ogu said that the accused and one other at large burgled the residence of one Babajide Balogun, while he was away, stealing a television set, valued at N220, 000.

“Other items stolen were laptop and video game and other items all at valued at N500, 000.

“The accused and his other accomplice were on their way going when they were caught by the vigilance group.”

Ogu added that the accused was apprehended while his accomplice escaped with some of the stolen items.

The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr J. A. Adegun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adegun, thereafter, adjourned the case until June 20 for trial. (NAN)
