Lagos, Aug. 21, 2017(NAN) A 27-year-old unemployed man, Samson Adigun, was on Monday in Lagos brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly snatching a N290,000 iPhone.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 31, at Old Abeokuta Road, Agege, in Lagos.
He said that the accused stole the phone from one Mr Paul Uduka, the complainant.
Egunjobi said that the complainant was returning from work when the accused suddenly stepped in front of him and snatched the phone.
“The accused jumped in front of the complainant, snatched his phone from his shirt’s pocket, and took to his heels.
“He shouted for help, but the accused escaped with the phone.
“The complainant later sighted the accused at Ogba in Lagos and he called the police,’’ the prosecutor said.
According to Egunjobi, the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

Adigun, of no fixed address, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing brought against him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that stealing, according to Section 287, attracts three years jail term.
The Magistrate, Mrs I.O Raji, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Raji said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until Sept. 14, for mention. (NAN)
