Lagos, March 13, 2017 (NAN) An unemployed man, Ola Joseph ,28, who allegedly broke into a shop and stole valuables worth N200, 000, was on Monday in Lagos granted a N100, 000 bail.
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court who gave the ruling, asked Joseph to provide two sureties as part of the bail conditions.
The chief magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, said the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Komolafe adjourned the case till March 20 for trial.
Joseph, who resides at No. 10, Iyana-Ogba, Mile 2, Lagos State, is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, had said that the accused conspired with some others still at large and committed the offences on Feb. 6 at No. 1, Wuraola St., Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos.
He alleged that the accused burgled the shop of the complainant, Mr Rasaq Ramon.
Ajebe said the accused entered the shop through the ceiling and stole electronics, two necklaces, some phones and some watches, all valued at N200, 000.
“The accused was sighted by one of the complainant’s neighbour who went outside to urinate at night and raised an alarm.
“Joseph was apprehended by security guards in the area and was handed over to the police,” he said.
Ajebe said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 305 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
