UCH renews MoU to strengthen Ibarapa Programme – Chairman

Ibadan, June 28, 2018 (NAN) The University College Hospital (UCH) Governing Board, has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Oyo State Government to strengthen the Ibarapa Community Health Programme.
Alhaji Bagudu Shettima, the Chairman, UCH Governing Board, made the disclosure in Ibadan during a courtesy call on Gov. Abiola Ajimobi in his office.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Shettima was accompanied on the visit by Prof. Temitope Alonge, UCH Chief Medical Director, and other members of the board.
NAN reports that the Ibarapa Programme is a collaboration between UCH and the Oyo state government.
The board chairman said that the MoU signed in May was aimed at injecting more energy, resources and human capital into the programme.
“We also have other stations we will still like to strengthen. All these have always been a collaborative effort between the UCH and the state government.
“Your Excellency, we are still coming to request more lands for some other projects and hope you will assist us,” he said.
Shettima commended the state government for its support, saying the board and management of UCH have resolved to build on the successes on ground.
He also disclosed plans to hold a special retreat that would aggregate the strength of the institution and impact on the state’s health sector.
Responding, Ajimobi revealed his plan to establish a child welfare centre that would assist in addressing health and social challenges in the state.
The governor stated that his administration has evolved several initiatives towards providing qualitative healthcare and other socio-economic interventions across the state.
He noted that the state remained committed to assisting UCH emerge a leading health institution across Africa.
Ajimobi commended the institution for regularly fulfilling its tax payment obligations to the state government, saying UCH is the highest tax paying institution in the state. (NAN)
