Abuja, May18 ,2017(NAN) The National Industrial Court, Abuja, will on June 6 hear the final written addresses in a suit filed against the United Bank for Africa(UBA) by a former employee, Eche Ebute.
The claimant sued UBA over his alleged verbal indefinite suspension from the bank on Sept.13, 2006.
Ebute, a banker, at the UBA branch in Makurdi, alleged that he was suspended by the respondents in 2006 over alleged missing money.
The claimant joined XL Logistics Limited as co- respondent in the suit.
The judge, Justice Rakiya Haastrup, fixed the date to enable UBA serve the second respondent, XL Logistics with their final written address.
The court held that in the interest of justice, the second respondent was entitled to be served with the processes and given an opportunity to be heard in the suit.
Earlier, counsel to the claimant, Mr Amuwa Olatunde, told the court that he had a pending application before the court.
Olatunde said that he is praying for an order of court for extension of time to file claimant’s final written address.
Counsel to UBA, Mr Chima Chibuzor, did not oppose the application.
The aggrieved banker wants the court to compel his employer to reinstate him to his work.
The claimant is also seeking for an order, directing the respondents to pay him salary during the period he was purportedly placed on suspension.
The claimant is also asking for general damages for the hardship, pains, and emotional trauma inflicted on him by the act of the respondents.
The second respondent, XL Logistics Limited was not represented by counsel in court.(NAN)
