Istanbul, Feb. 15, 2018 (dpa/NAN) Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Thursday said he expects that jailed German journalist Deniz Yucel will soon see a judge in order for the case to be resolved and closed.
He said that it would also make the case to cease from being “an issue that blocks” the relationship between the two countries.
“We recommend that he appears before the judge as soon as possible.
“I expect there will be such a development soon.
“Every court appearance is hope,” Yildirim told journalists on his way from Belarus to Germany, before meeting Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He was quoted by Haberturk broadcaster and other Turkish media as insisting that Turkey is a country with the rule of law.
He also praised Germany’s recent legal measures against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and expressed his desire to see ties between Ankara and Berlin return to the “good old days.” (dpa /NAN)
