Ikeja, July 9, 2018 (NAN) A 27-year-old truck conductor, Temilola Ishola, was on Monday, docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Mack-R Model truck and container belonging to his boss.
Ishola, who lives at No. 53, Oshoro St., Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 22, at Apapa, Lagos.
Nwangwu said that the accused committed the offences with others still at large.
He said that the accused stole a Mack-R model truck with registration number BDG-631 XM valued at N10 million and an empty tank worth N1 million, property of the Complainant.
The complainant, Mr Ernest Okunna, is the Managing Director of Okunna E. Enterprises, Nigeria Limited.
“The accused was said to have stolen the truck and the container at Tin -Can Port, Apapa, Lagos, without the knowledge of the truck driver.
“After he allegedly stole the truck, he drove it to Benin City in Edo for onward disposal,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, Temilola was arrested by a team of policemen attached to the Inspector General of Police (I-G) Team Force, Abuja.
“When the accused was apprehended, he was taken to the station where he made a confessional statement,” Nwangwu said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1.5 million .
Aje-Afunwa ruled that the accused must produce two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must be blood relations with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 6, for mention. (NAN)
