Omu-Aran (Kwara) July 19, 2018 (NAN) The Nigeria Police on Thursday says traditional rulers will play an active role in its new security master plan aimed at maximum protection of lives and property.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Aminu Saleh, made this known at the palace of Olomu of Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area during his familiarisation tour of police commands and outposts in Kwara South Senatorial District.
He explained that community leaders would play prominent roles in fine tuning and execution of the new security master plan which was already receiving the attention of police authorities.
The police commissioner urged traditional institutions to support the efforts at making the new security master plan workable and effective in providing greater protection of lives and property in the country.
Saleh gave assurance that his command would ensure that banks in Kwara were adequately protected against activities of criminals so as to restore normalcy in commercial activities in the state.
He said the police were now more determined than ever in ensuring safety of lives and property in spite of the existing security challenges.
Responding on behalf of the Olomu-In-Council,the Eesa of Omu-Aran Chief Jide Adebayo, thanked the police commissioner and his entourage for the visit to the palace .
While recalling the various logistics support to the police, Adebayo pledged more assistance to enable security agents to discharge their statutory responsibilities more efficiently.
“The donation of two Hilux vehicles and construction of additional police posts by the community were meant to improve crime prevention and combat,” he explained.
On his part, Police Area Commander in Omu-Aran, Mr Fasuba Akinyele, listed the challenges faced by his command to include insufficiency of vehicles and personnel to carry out operations.
He also requested for provision of clinic that cater for the command’s health needs. (NAN)
